Message From The President

Welcome to the Ivy Rose Foundation, Inc.’s virtual home. I would like you to visit our site and learn more about our Foundation. We are an amazing organization that provides scholarships and programming to the Brooklyn Community. We are committed to supreme service to all mankind.

Since 1986, Ivy Rose Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation, has provided charitable, literary, and educational activities. Our mission is:

  1. To provide and promote educational and cultural activities to communities in and around the borough of Brooklyn.

  2. To stimulate interest in and create an awareness of the need to elevate the quality of life for the disadvantages in this community.

  3. To conduct or sponsor public forums at which discussions about human needs and service are presented.

  4. To provide awards and grants, including scholarships and fellowships, to deserving individuals or organizations.

Ivy Rose Foundation has over 200 active members. The foundation continues to grow and be recognized in the Brooklyn community for outstanding community service and programming. Since its inception Ivy Rose Foundation has made charitable donations to organizations such as American Cancer Society, Brookdale Hospital Pediatric Sickle Cell Anemia Program, the Brooklyn Music School, Weeksville Heritage Center, the Sphinx Organization and the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Our scholarship program is extended to four matriculating college students every year with awards in the amount of $4,000 per academic year, totaling $16,000 towards their college education. During the 2020 pandemic, we awarded eight (8) students from Medgar Evers College with $500.00 scholarships to assist with expenses. In Addition, we provided gift cards to the residents from the Weeksville community in Brooklyn. Online programming and activities were provided to continue to engage and maintain the connection with the community we serve. In December of 2020, we held our Annual Ivy Awards Celebration at which time several Brooklyn organizations were awarded grants for their outstanding service in the Brooklyn Community.

Our partnerships extended in 2020 with several grants being awarded to our organization. We received a COVID-19 Grant from Amazon Corporation, in addition to another grant from Amazon in December to support our HBCU College Tour. We also received a grant from New York Life to support our Virtual HBCU College Tour for 2021. With the tour being virtual this year, our goal is to reach over 500 students across the country. This virtual tour will be held on April 24 and May 1, 2021. Our local programming will continue in 2021 with our “Rites of Passage” program for young males and “Money is Power” financial literacy workshop. Ivy Rose Foundation is also the custodian of the J. Marjorie Jackson Scholarship Program, a program where high school students compete in a yearly talent competition, usually in the month of February.

The student winner is awarded a financial scholarship.

Thank for visiting our site. Please contact us to learn more about the amazing programs we host and scholarships and community awards that we provide. Look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely, Yolanda Holmes

Ivy Rose Foundation, Inc. President
